An Enduring Family Legacy:
The Clarence Loflin Charitable Fund

For Vickie, family is one of the greatest gifts anyone can have. When her father passed away in 2012, she has spent a lot of time trying to honor the man who instilled in her many of her most important values. Upon reflecting about the legacy of her father, Vickie remarks, “My Dad was a very special man, and also the best dad a girl could ever have.”

Clarence Loflin’s Dedicated Legacy as a Third Generation Farmer

When Clarence was not instilling the importance of family values, he was a diligent third generation farmer. He graduated from Denton High school in 1947 and attended NC State University. A proud participant in his community, he was a member of many boards, but the one he found himself and dedicated 35 years to was the “Davidson County Soil and Water Conservation Board.”

For his firm belief and practice of protecting the environment, the Loflin’s won the “Farm Family of the Year” presented by the Governor on behalf of the Department of Agriculture. Kids and people from all over the world flocked to the farm for their novel soil conservation efforts. There at his farm, Clarence would share many conversations with diverse minds.

He was an active member of the Siloam Methodist Church in Denton, NC. Many say he was the pillar of the town. He carried a passionate belief in education, kindness, faith, and love to the members of his community.

The Clarence Loflin Charitable Fund

When Clarence passed away in 2012, his children wished to continue his legacy. They began the “Clarence Loflin Charitable Fund." All the proceeds of Vickie’s art and pottery go to this fund to help support children, the future pillars of our communities. Projects that the Clarence Loflin Charitable Fund has donated to are the Children’s Burn Fund Baptist Hospital, Project Santa in Denton, NC, the Back Pack Fund, as well as a yearly Clarence Loflin Memorial Scholarship to a very deserving student at South Davidson High School. In 2021, the fund was able to provide three scholarships for children wishing to seek higher education.

Art that Gives

For each painting and pottery piece, Vickie crafts her father’s legacy so that his spirit of giving continues even after his time on this earth.

From Vickie and all the children who have been helped through Clarence's legacy: Thank you for your support.
